Glossy Black Cockatoo & Land Management Talk Series

Dive into the wild world of the Central West with a special morning talk series featuring the much-loved and quirky Glossy Black Cockatoo.

This engaging event is perfect for landholders, nature lovers, and community members wanting to learn more about local wildlife, habitat conservation, and practical pest management strategies.

Hosted by Central West Local Land Services in partnership with Three Rivers Landcare, NSW National Parks and Wildlife, and BirdLife Australia, the morning will feature a series of expert presentations:

BeaksJayden Gunn from BirdLife Australia will present on the iconic Glossy Black Cockatoo, including how to identify the species, its habitat needs, and the specific feed trees it relies on.

BristlesRhett Robinson, Senior Biosecurity Officer from Central West Local Land Services, will provide an update on local feral pig management, pig ecology, and practical tips for starting an effective pig control program, along with information on fox control and deer management.

Glossy CountSierra Weston, National Parks Ranger, will share information on Glossy Black Cockatoo numbers in Goobang and Goonoo National Parks, explain how the Great Inland Glossy Count works, and how community members can record and contribute their own sightings.
